These warmblooded and inventive works by Jan Vriend are advocated by Micha Hamel. The Netherlands Chamber Choir performs these excellent-crafted compositions with technical perfection and genuine musical understanding and interpretation. An exciting addition to the repertoire!

Jan Vriend (1938) has lived and worked in Gloucestershire, UK since 1984. He started his career as an all-rounder: pianist, organist, clarinetist and conductor, covering a variety of styles and genres. Perhaps best known for being the co-founder and first conductor of ASKO, which developed into the now internationally renowned ASKO Ensemble, Jan has been a full-time composer since the mid seventies.

The Netherlands Chamber Choir was founded by Felix de Nobel in 1937 and is a fulltime independent vocal ensemble that specialises in the a cappella repertoire from the early Middle Ages to the present day. In previous seasons the Netherlands Chamber Choir has commissioned works from many different composers, giving world premieres of works by Sir John Tavener, James MacMillan, Edith Canat de Chizy, Gija Kancheli, Hans Kox, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Gerard Beljon, Mauricio Kagel and Jan Vriend that were greeted enthusiastically by the musical press.
