KUGONI TRIO
The Kugoni Trio have been highly respected guests in concert halls both in Belgium and abroad since their founding in 2010; they owe this not only to their unique blend of piano, violin and saxophone but also to their energetic performances and their passionate search for new repertoire. The members are Bert Koch (piano), Nicolas Dupont (violin) and Kurt Bertels (saxophone).

The Kugoni Trio makes frequent appearances in many Belgian cultural centres; they already performed in such prestigious venues as BOZAR, Flagey (Brussels), De Bijloke (Ghent), the Academiezaal Sint-Truiden, in AMUZ and deSingel (Antwerp) and the Concertgebouw Brugge. They have not only appeared at Belgian and Dutch festivals and cultural events such as Iedereen Klassiek, Cultuurmarkt, KlaraFestival, Klara in de Singel, BumaClassical (NL), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (NL), Belgian Music Days and the Festival van Vlaanderen, but also at similar events in Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, and China.

CLASSICSREVISITED
It was during the corona pandemic that the Kugoni Trio worked on this, its third album. After Timelapse (2016) and Essence by Kugoni Trio (2019), the trio now presents Classics Revisited, a collection of new works in diverse styles by composers who either created new works in collaboration with the trio or who received commissions from them. Kugoni Trio pairs this new music with existing works by Astor Piazzolla, Charles Koechlin, Dmitri Shostakovich and Jan Decadt.
The Kugoni Trio have a firm commitment to the communication and understanding of classical music in new ways and therefore provide a platform for today’s emerging and important composers as well as for established classical values. They carry out a great deal of studio work with composers as they search for a new understanding of contemporary classical music; this is highly necessary and is typical of their creative and performance process. The trio has long sought to expand its repertoire of works for saxophone, violin and piano; now, some dozens of commissions later, the ensemble is considered to be a champion of new music and of Belgian music in particular.
